180 Kids – Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is 180 Kids?

180 Kids is a high energy, fun Wednesday night worship group for kids from Kindergarten to 4th grade. Our class is meant to provide an opportunity for praise and spiritual growth as well as an introduction to Christ for those that may be new to our church.

  1. When is 180 Kids?

180 Kids is on Wednesday night from 6:30 to 7:30.  Children are invited to come early and eat pizza for $1.00 a slice.  This is a good opportunity to have fun with their friends, and make new friends as well! We run our group from early September until November 15th, then break until January 3rd and run until mid May.

  1. What age do kids have to be to attend?

Our group is for kids in Kindergarten through 4th grade.  We do have our nursery open for kids that are younger than that.

  1. What will my child be doing on in their class?

As noted above, 180 Kids is high energy! We start with an interactive game or activity, then have praise worship, which includes a lot of singing and dancing.  Our lesson is video based, and supplemented with scripture and questions for the group.  At the end of our class the kids will get a snack, and pray before heading home for the night.

  1. What if my child is nervous about attending 180?  Can I stay to observe the class?

Parents are welcome to stay and observe or be with their child to make them more comfortable.  Our hope is that they will acclimate and become comfortable, but we want them to enjoy coming, and if it helps to have you there at first, then you should be.

  1. What is the process for signing my child up for 180 Kids?

We do not require pre-registration and there isn’t any cost in attending 180 Kids.  We will ask that you fill out a brief form so that we are able to enter your child and your information into our computer system so that we can print the sign-in and pick-up labels.

  1. How can you assure me that my child is safe?

This is a top priority in our Children’s Ministry.  We have a group of 5-7 volunteers that serve in our 180 Kids group each Wednesday.  This group of parents role is to make sure that kids are monitored at all times.  We have specific policies in place to make sure that your child is safe when they are with us.    All of our leaders and volunteers are required to complete a background check before they are able to serve in our Children’s Ministry in any capacity.

  1. How do I inform leaders and volunteers of my child’s allergy or medical needs?

If there is any special need or medical condition we need to be aware of, please don’t hesitate to talk to us. Our nametag system allows us to add an allergy alert, so that all leaders and volunteers will be aware.  The best idea is to just have the conversation first, and we will do all we can to accommodate.

  1. If I have a concerns or questions pertaining to 180 Kids, who can I talk to?

You can talk to any of our room leaders, the children’s ministry director – Jeremy Hunze, or our lead pastor – Pastor Steve Larson.  Any concerns will be addressed appropriately.

Meet the teacher:

Jeremy Hunze

I am the Children’s Ministry and Outreach Director at Community Celebration Church.  As a part of this, I teach our elementary age children on both Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings.

I am married to Jennifer, and have been since 2003.  We have been blessed with two amazing children, Sophie and Dalton.  Jen and I both grew up in the Winona, MN area, and have called Mantorville home since 2014.  We have attended CCC since moving to Mantorville, and love it here, it has felt like home since day one.  My calling in to children’s ministry caught me by surprise, it wasn’t something that I had ever consider.  That being said, I absolutely love what I am doing.  I enjoy getting to interact and get to know the children.  I look forward to serving in this capacity and seeing what God has planned for our ministry and congregation.
